Overview

Book page

Your adventure begins with two days exploring the vibrant city of Kathmandu. This includes a guided tour of some of the most beautiful and revered sites. You’ll discover the sights, sounds and smells of this ancient city before departing on your exhilarating, scenic mountain flight to Lukla, the start of your trek.

After touching down in Lukla you’ll meet your team of porters, shoulder your light daypack, and begin your Classic Everest Base Camp Trek.

After an easy descent to the banks of the mighty Dudh Kosi river, you’ll ascend slowly along this famous route, crossing dizzying suspension bridges, weaving through scented rhododendron forests, and visiting lively Sherpa villages including Namche Bazaar and the spiritual centre of Thyangboche.

Around every corner is another photograph begging to be taken. Views of Everest, Lhotse, Island Peak and Ama Dablam will inspire. After many days on the trail, your goal is tantalisingly near. Mt Everest at sunset rewards those that ascend Kala Pattar (5545m) at dusk. The following day you’ll reach Everest Base Camp and experience all the elation that goes with it.

You’ve made it.

This trip includes a private helicopter charter at the end of the trek from Pheriche return to Kathmandu.

Why do we use helicopters for the return journey to Kathmandu?

In 2019, the Nepalese government ceased operating fixed-wing flights during the busy Spring and Autumn trekking seasons between Kathmandu and Lukla. Travel operators wishing to fly their groups into Lukla by fixed-wing aeroplane (the standard and cheapest option), must now do so from the rural Ramechhap Airport. This requires trekkers to travel by private vehicle/bus for 4-5 hours from Kathmandu to Ramechhap. This is a tedious, slow and mostly uninteresting bus ride. Trek Climb Ski Nepal have taken on board feedback from our past clients who vote unanimously that a helicopter return direct to Kathmandu would be a far more exciting conclusion to this adventure than the road trip from Ramechhap.

The return helicopter ride to Kathmandu from Pheriche is an exhilarating and exciting conclusion to your Everest Base Camp Trek. In addition, it enables all our clients to enjoy a full day in Kathmandu at the end of their trek, opposed to a long and late day at the mercy of fixed-wing flight delays, poor weather and slow road conditions.

Our Everest Base Camp Trek includes 3 nights at the Radisson (or equivalent standard) Hotel in Kathmandu. Trek Climb Ski Nepal also provide a complimentary welcome dinner with drinks in Kathmandu on the first evening of your trip. While trekking in the mountains, you will stay in lodges along the route.

This trip includes all meals while you are on trek in the mountains. Morning and afternoon tea is also provided each day you are trekking.

We proudly employ an all you can eat food policy on all our trips. Proper food intake (with regular hydration) is critical to safe altitude acclimatisation. In our opinion, trekking companies that leave food decisions and the purchase of food for their clients to manage (when trekking at altitude) are grossly irresponsible. Trekking companies often do this because it enables them to advertise a much lower (but unrealistic) trip price. Be sure to choose a tour operator that includes all your meals in your trip price.
